The Hematology Nurses specialize in assisting and caring for people who have problems and diseases related to blood. The Hematology Nurses can choose to provide nursing care to adults only or may also dedicate themselves for the care of children. The Hematology Nurses assist in blood tests, blood transfusions and sometimes with chemotherapy. A few of the most common blood related diseases for which hematology nurses provide care include; hemophilia, leukemia, sickle cell anemia and lymphoma. The main responsibilities of hematology nurses are taking blood samples, taking medical history of the patients and staring IVs.

• Education Criteria for Hematology Nurse:

The basic part of becoming a hematology nurse is to complete a nursing program which can be completed from a nursing school. Many people get the degree of Bachelors of Science in nursing or Associate of Science in nursing. Some people acquire diploma in nursing instead of a degree. Once the degree of diploma is acquired, the next step is to give an exam called as NCLEX. This exam entitles them to practice nursing in any state of USA. Then after accumulating clinical experience in hematology they can further acquire two specialized certifications by giving the examination of; Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) and Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON)
