Travel Nurse

Travel nurses are those nurses who move from one place to the other in order to take care of the patients suffering from illnesses and diseases. These nurses provide detailed care and services to patients in order to treat them and cure their diseases. There are many agencies that hire travel nurses on contractual as well as permanent basis. These agencies position those nurses to different places where there is a need. Hospitals outsource agencies and those agencies hire different nurses and provide them with work. Hospitals pay bill rates to the agencies and then agencies subtract their cost and pay the wages to the nurses.

• Required Level of Education for TRAVEL NURSE:

A nurse must have minimum of one year of clinical experience under any specialty. Though, it is beneficial to have more than 2 years of experience in the relevant field, before applying for the position of a travel nurse. It is expected that these nurses are experienced and well-informed about the clinical practices. These nurses must have the licenses (LPN or RN) before practicing on behalf of any agency.

 

After gaining two years of work experience as a full-time RN, the student has to obtain a cardiovascular nursing certification, which requires a further minimum of 2000 hours of experience and 30 hours of education in cardiovascular nursing followed by a cardiovascular nursing certification.

Travel Nurses earn a great deal. There are many individuals who prefer to join this field because of the perks and better remuneration packages. There are different rates that are paid to the nurses, which are based on the agencies. Some agencies really pay well, whereas there are also a few agencies that pay mediocre. It all depends upon the budget allotted by the hospitals. The salaries of these nurses are tax free. If any individual have good negotiation skills then he or she can bag a great contract that pays extremely well. The demand of travel nurses is increasing day by day. According to a survey the median salary of a travel nurse is $46,000/-.
